I am going to be adding some information about Esther Harvitz, namely the biblical character and book of the Jewish Bible and the Christian Old Testament. The basic Esther synopsis provides the background myth behind the Jewish holiday of Purim. In the book, Esther, a diasporic Hebrew married to Xerxes I of Persia, prevents a genocide of the Hebrews living under Persian rule in exile. She plots with her brother to bring the plan of Xerxes' 2nd in command, hoisting him on his own petard. Esther is not a savior of the Jewish people, but someone who wants to hide/erase/negate her Jewishness through rhinoplasty. I intend to show further connections between the story.
